We had a huge turnout for the Avants Drive to Whidbey Island. Great cars, superb backroads and fantastic scenery!

We gathered at the Starbucks in Lynnwood to fuel up on donuts and coffee. After a quick drivers meeting, we headed out on our adventure, crisscrossing though backroads as we made our way to the Conway Store in Mt Vernon for our first pit stop for gas and snacks. Turns out that V10 Lamborghinis don’t get very good gas mileage.

We then headed east, crossing over to Whidbey Island via Deception Pass bridge on our way to Coupeville, our lunch destination. What a perfect little town to grab lunch. Pretty much the most adorable town in Washington. After our tummies were full, we meandered down Whidbey Island, passing by beautiful Fort Casey and Ebey’s Landing on our way to visit Jim Simpson at Simpson Design (https://www.simpsondesign.net/).

A big thank you to Jim for showing us around his shop/collection (and for letting 40+ cars park on his lawn). In addition to his custom Simpson Design cars, he also has a huge collection of extremely rare, imported vehicles (Toyota Sera, Mazda Cosmo, etc).

We finished the drive with a nice ferry ride back to the mainland. Thanks to the WSDOT Ferry folks for putting all of our cars together on the ferry!

All in all, it was the perfect way to spend a Sunday! Thank you to Fred Russell for putting together an amazing route, Jon Lai for the beautiful photos and Jim Simpson for showing off his beautiful shop and collection.
